The latest Join Dementia Research volunteer registration data are now available.

February 2020 highlights:

  • Number of volunteers to the end of February totals 46,679 (5,818 with a dementia diagnosis, which is 1% of total number of people with a diagnosis – objective is 25% by December 2020)
  • NHS Fylde and Wyre CCG are the top CCG with the most people with dementia registered on JDR (136 volunteers), closely followed by NHS Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees (132 volunteers)
  • NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucester CCG remain the top CCG for volunteers overall with 2,134. 2nd place is another South-West CCG, NHS Devon CCG has registered 1,353 volunteers overall
  • NHS Fylde and Wyre CCG also remain as the top CCG for % population with dementia registered on dementia, with 6.05% of its population with dementia registered on JDR
  • Humber, Coast and Vale is the top NIHR region by % with 2.23% of its population with dementia registered on JDR
  • NHS Berkshire CCG registered the most people with dementia (7), closely followed by NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG (6)
  • 186 CCG / Health Board regions registered at least one new volunteer and only 33 did not
  • Referrals from memory clinics continue to generate the largest number of registrations of people living with dementia, accounting for a third (33.7%) of those registered in February
  • In February, there were an impressive 701 volunteers without dementia registered on JDR – 116 of these came via Alzheimer’s Research UK
