Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trust are committed to raise awareness about Join Dementia Research, so that people living with dementia know about research and how they can take part in studies. Lauren Roberts, a Research Assistant at TEWV, shares the various approaches that are currently being undertaken to achieve this goal.

“It is important to promote Join Dementia Research in multiple ways to ensure everyone is reaches and knows about this opportunity to be involved in research,” Lauren shared.

In this case study Lauren first highlights how she worked with various organisations to enable them to become Research Champions. She then outlines the need to engage Trust staff and pharmacies (both chains and independent pharmacies). Next, Lauren shares how she reached out to community organisations in the local area, offering to talk about Join Dementia Research at Memory Cafes and support groups for people living with dementia. Finally, she highlights how she worked with the Office of the NIHR National Director for Dementia Research to place Join Dementia Research information kiosks in various healthcare settings (e.g., GP surgeries) in the local region.
